Alexis Turgeon, MD, MSc

Dr. Turgeon is the BRAINapt Trial Chair. He is a scientist and practices critical care medicine at CHU de Québec-Université Laval. He leads extensive collaborative research programs in neurocritical care medicine including, in the last years, the HEMOTION trial, a multicenter international trial on red blood cell transfusion thresholds in TBI. Dr Turgeon is the chairholder of the Canada Research Chair in Critical Care Neurology and Trauma and the co-chair of the Canadian Traumatic Brain Injury Research Consortium. He has developed expertise in platform trials using bayesian designs.
Shane English, MD, MSc

Adult Intensivist and Neuro-Intensivist, an Assistant Professor of Medicine (Critical Care) at the University of Ottawa and an Associate Scientist at The Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (OHRI). Dr. English’s research interests lie in neurocritical care, particularly in subarachnoid hemorrhage and traumatic brain injury with current programs of research in secondary neurologic injury prevention in subarachnoid hemorrhage patients. Research methodologies of particular interest include systematic reviews, observational and interventional studies. Clinically, Dr. English practices Critical Care Medicine at the Civic Campus of The Ottawa Hospital.
François Lauzier, MD, MSc
Professor, Department of Medicine, Université Laval
Professor in Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at Université Laval and a clinician-scientist at the CHU de Québec – Université Laval Research Center. His research focuses on pituitary disorders induced by traumatic brain injury. Dr. Lauzier was the co-principal investigator of the HEMOTION trial. He practices critical care medicine at CHU de Québec-Université Laval.
Michelle McDonald, BSocSc

Accomplished non-profit professional with over two decades of experience working in the sector in both Toronto and Ottawa. As Chief Executive Officer of Brain Injury Canada, she has led the organization in a new strategic direction solidifying its position as a credible information source, knowledge mobilizer and ally for those with lived experience, families, the healthcare/service provider community, as well as the medical and research community. In addition to managing day-to-day operations, she also oversees the development of all Brain Injury Canada’s education and awareness programs, as well as advocacy initiatives. She is also co-Chair of the Governing Council for Neurological Health Charities Canada.
Lynne Moore, PhD

Professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics in the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine, at Université Laval in Québec City, Québec. Dr. Moore’s research interests are in improving the quality of acute injury care. She has led the development, validation, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive quality tool assessment for acute injury care which has been implemented across Canada. She is co-leader of the International Injury Care Improvement Initiative.

Scientific Lead and Founder of Core Clinical Services, an Assistant Professor at McMaster University and a Methodologist with expertise in HEOR and clinical trial designs. Dr. Park has a specific methodological expertise in bayesian trials.
Ryan Zarychanski, MD, MSc

Professor and Clinician-Scientist in the Departments of Medicine (Sections of Critical Care and of Hematology & Medical Oncology) and Community Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He has led large-scale multicenter trials, including platform trials using bayesian designs. Pr. Zarychanski is the Director of Knowledge Synthesis Unit at the Centre for Healthcare Innovation in Winnipeg, Manitoba and was awarded the Lyonel G. Israels Professorship in Hematology from the University of Manitoba in 2016.
